THCA is the acid form of Delta-9 THC, the classic THC most people expect from cannabis. THCA converts into active Delta-9 THC by exposing THCA to heat, oxygen, or UV light. Hemp can be grown in high THCA amounts so long as it's still under the 0.3% active Delta-9 THC limit, and is considered legal in most states (though there are still plenty of states that treat THCA as total or active THC for growing and sales, consult your state laws before buying).
